About The Role: 

We now have a 9-month fixed term contract opportunity available within our Procurement team.

The Senior Manager is responsible for end-to-end category performance (within their scope, such as marketing, sponsorship, printing, distribution & freight, etc.) and supplier performance management and will lead a team of specialist sourcing /category management professionals, operating in accordance with corporate policies and processes, defined governance, regulations and delegations of authority.

The primary focus of the Senior Manager role is to drive the creation of transformative category strategies, based on supply market expertise, current and future business strategy & needs, category spend and innovation opportunities that identify impactful business value (with a focus on a pipeline of savings through effective category deployment). The Senior Manager also develops effective implementation plans, working in lockstep with business interface peers to support successful implementation to agreed timelines.

What you’ll do:

The Senior Manager works closely with the relevant business stakeholders to build rapport, to ensure stakeholders recognise a single, coordinated team, communicating on an aligned basis with an enterprise-wide view.

Responsibilities include:

  • Defining & creating the category strategy, roadmap and initiatives.
  • Managing and coordinating team resources to deliver on category strategy.
  • Overseeing and supporting the team in the execution of sourcing activities and strategic supplier relationship management.
  • Driving Procurement excellence in process, policy & systems as well high stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Define the category hierarchy mapping.
  • Lead the sourcing roadmap definition for the category to develop and prioritise category sourcing initiatives annually (and updated as needed).
  • Target 100% of addressable spend under category strategy.
  • Conducts effective change management with stakeholder’s post- implementation to realise value from initiatives.
  • Keeping regulatory compliance front of mind & manage risks.
  • Works with the business to define supplier KPIs, scorecard, vendor management models, data sources and collection methods on supplier performance.
  • Support the business to manage relationships with incumbent strategic suppliers including driving supplier innovation and developing joint improvement initiatives.
  • Provides regular timely updates for performance reporting & on all agreed value delivery drivers.
  • Support the development of measurable category objectives and align with Procurement excellence & the Performance Management Lead.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree qualification, preferably in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or Business Management.
  • Other advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • 10 + years relevant sourcing & category management experience with at least the last 3 years focused on Marketing specific categories (essential)
  • Proven experience in managing teams during periods of change.
  • Proven experience in leading teams to develop, implement and maintain category and sourcing strategies.
  • Proven expertise in managing and negotiating with suppliers & creating risk mitigation plans and strategies.
  • Understanding of working in a regulated environment (ideal).
